Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8932This study aims to investigate the ethnomathematical knowledge present in the artisanal production of musical instruments used in the Carimbó festival in the municipality of Santarém Novo – PA, and its contribution to cultural preservation. The research, qualitative in nature with an exploratory and descriptive approach, was based on bibliographic review, semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and photographic records of the artisanal process. The results show that the production of the instruments involves implicit mathematical concepts such as measurements, proportions, symmetries, empirical calculations, and estimations, applied intuitively and practically. In addition to the technical aspect, the pedagogical dimension of the craft stands out, in which the master shares his knowledge with students, visitors, and the community, shaping his practice as a space for cultural preservation and knowledge transmission. It was also observed a discrepancy between the external recognition of the artisan and the lack of local appreciation, highlighting the need for public policies aimed at safeguarding the traditional culture of Carimbó instruments and integrating this knowledge into the educational process.
