Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10283This study proposes a reflection on inclusive education and the use of assistive technologies in higher education, with a focus on visually impaired students. This is a qualitative study, based on a literature review, whose general objective is to analyze how assistive technologies can promote inclusion and foster the learning process of these students. The specific objectives are to discuss the concepts of Inclusive Education and Assistive Technology in the university context, as well as to identify practices and resources used by visually impaired students. The research is enriched by the autobiographical perspective of the author, himself a visually impaired person, whose educational trajectory shows, in a concrete way, the positive impacts of assistive technology on access to knowledge and the construction of academic autonomy. An analysis of the theoretical assumptions of authors such as Araújo and Silva (2025), Rodrigues and Alves (2023), Lehmkuhl (2022), Kraemer and Klein (2022), and Frazão et al. (2020), shows that access to and mastery of tools such as screen readers and voice synthesis are decisive for the active participation and academic success of these individuals.
