These negative changes need to be caused by direct or indirect human action. However, natural changes may not be considered as impacts. Therefore, anthropogenic activities that affect the population’s health and safety, the economic activities, the ecosystems, the natural resources quality, the landscape aesthetic, and the sanitary patters are negative environment impacts. To estimate the probability of occurrence of these impacts it is necessary an identifying and evaluating process of how the expected changes affect the biophysical and social environments. The process provides the prediction and assessment of the negative impacts, for example, of a mining enterprise and explains your degradation potential. This potential varies according to factors such as mine location and size, nameplate capacity, mining technics, mineral processing technics and kinds of equipment or machinery used on the mine. However the main factors are the ores, host rocks, gangues, tailings and slags chemical compositions. Usually the chemical composition reflects the geology of the mined deposit, or of the deposit desired for mining. Thus, this study analyzed the negative environment impacts related to the Perau and Panelas Mineral Deposits, which are belonged to the SEDEX and MVT models and are hosted in the Perau and Votuverava Formations, respectively Açungui and Setuva Groups. Perau and Panelas Deposits show Pb, Zn, Ba, Cu, Ag and Au mineralizations and were mined between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Furthermore was analyzed a plant of smelting installed on the area of the Panelas Mine, which recovered Pb, Zn, Cu, Ag and Au from the ore of the Perau and Panelas Mineral Deposits. The study showed that the former mining activities of those deposits have caused negative impacts for the environment and population. Although the study does not elucidate all the environment negative impacts related to the deposits, it was possible to develop an assessment routine that can be a basis for future more accurate methods of environmental impact assessment focused on mining enterprises.
