Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7848Objective: To identify variations in the incidence of leprosy in Pará from 2001 to 2021, analyzing variations in profiles by gender, age groups, and identifying areas with the highest incidence and proportion of cases with grade 2 disability. Methods: Descriptive and cross sectional epidemiological study using secondary data reported to the Information System for Notifiable Diseases (SINAN). The data were organized and statistically analyzed to assess temporal trends and spatial distributions of leprosy cases in the state of Pará. Results: There was a general trend of reduction in the leprosy incidence rate in the state, from 81.41 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2001 to 18.61 in 2021. Incidence varied significantly among age groups and genders, with a higher persistence of the disease among men and in economically active age groups. The regions showed heterogeneous patterns of incidence, but generally all exhibited a declining trend. However, the proportion of cases with grade 2 lesions increased over the study period. Conclusion: The study highlights a decreasing trend in the incidence of leprosy in Pará but underscores the need for continuous surveillance and targeted interventions, especially in areas of high endemicity and among vulnerable populations.
