An analysis based on the perceptions of 9th-grade students at a school in the municipality of Bagre, Pará." We were motivated by the question: what are students' perceptions regarding mathematics? To this end, we reflected on the feelings of aversion toward this field of knowledge. Our general objective was to identify the presence of an aversion to mathematics among students and to examine the factors influencing the views held by a group of 9th-grade students. Regarding methodology, we conducted a qualitative analysis using interviews and questionnaires. The results revealed that the majority of the students studied felt uncomfortable with mathematics and had previously experienced difficulties with the subject. The findings also showed that this aversion leads students to disengage from the discipline, hinders the development of mathematical knowledge, and negatively impacts their ability to apply such knowledge in daily life.
