Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8474This work aims to develop an urban requalification proposal for a section of Bernardo Sayão Avenue and its surrounding area in the Jurunas neighborhood, in Belém do Pará, taking into account the social, economic, and environmental factors of the region. The area in question reflects the lack of urban planning in informal settlements located in flood-prone zones, which, without proper urbanization actions, have faced ongoing problems since the foundation of the capital of Pará in the 17th century. The research supporting this work analyzes the presence of rivers, as well as the sanitation and drainage solutions implemented by the municipality, and their socio-environmental and socio-spatial consequences on the city. For the diagnosis of the area, a study polygon was defined to enable on-site visits and interviews with local residents. The development of this work includes a literature review and analysis of the ongoing macro-drainage works in the Estrada Nova Hydrographic Basin, particularly in densely populated areas with inadequate urban infrastructure. The goal is to propose an urban design study aimed at the requalification of the area through integrated solutions involving transport infrastructure, public facilities, and sustainable community spaces, aligning them with existing works and addressing the needs of the local population.
