Specifically, it sought to 1) investigate, in the day-to-day life of the Candeua farm village in Curuçá/PA, aspects of mathematical knowledge used in the practice of black pepper cultivation; 2) relate native or non-formal mathematical knowledge to the knowledge taught at school. The research subjects are farmers who have incomplete primary education, residing in the Candeua agrovillage. Seeking to demonstrate this relationship between informal (empirical) and formal (erudite) mathematical knowledge, the research followed a qualitative approach, approaching the ethnomathematical knowledge of Ubiratan D’Ambrósio (1987) (2011). During the work, calculations were developed that demonstrate, with a theoretical basis, the practice that farmers use on a daily basis, that many of these are produced formally by farmers, but that they are often unaware of what they are about.
