Using a qualitative approach, interviews were conducted with 2 teachers, 5 settlers and 2 community leaders, as well as documentary research into the school's PPP. Data generated in the Community Time I research of the Field Education Degree course was also used. The research showed how the struggle for land was linked to access to school in the community. It also presented the challenges that the school currently faces: the distance between families and the school, the lack of adequate resources, both material and human, and the failure to adapt the curriculum to a rural school. The study showed that the school, when articulated with the social movement and the community, can be a space of resistance and social transformation, contributing to families staying in the countryside and building a life project linked to the land.
