Inéia Damasceno Abreu, at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Castanhal Campus. The research aims to propose a teaching method that not only introduces the Portuguese language (PL) to deaf students effectively, but also helps them to understand and appreciate the literary genre fable. The teaching proposal was adapted to meet the needs of these students, considering their linguistic and cultural particularities. Specifically, the research aims to present a teaching proposal based on Portuguese as a non-native language (PLNM) for the deaf, aimed at the 6th grade of elementary school, using the fable genre. Methodologically, the research is qualitative and applied in nature.
