Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9525This study aimed to investigate the perception of reading used within the classroom and, consequently, to expose the mechanisms used in the construction of reading. Furthermore, this research drew upon institutional documents such as the National Curriculum Parameters and the National Common Curriculum Base, thus highlighting both the perspective on reading outlined in the documents and the practice of reading in the daily classroom routine. In addition, the study draws on the reading perspective of Koch and Elias (2006) as its main theory, along with complementary theories such as those of Guimarães (2001), Tapia and Garcia-Celay (1996), Triviños (1987), and Gauthier (1984). The results indicate that most of the activities intended for students through textbooks correspond to the second conception of Koch and Elias (2006), which highlights a reading focused solely on the text, making the reader merely a decoder.
