Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8681Digital libraries have played an essential role in democratizing access to information and developing digital skills, especially in public universities in the Northern region of Brazil. The objective of the present study was to understand the role of digital libraries in contemporary education, with a focus on the training offered to users and its contribution to the efficient use of available information sources. Specifically, it sought to recognize the theoretical context of digital libraries, collect information about the training carried out by public universities in the Northern region, and identify trends in training programs. The methodology used was exploratory and qualitative, based on a literature review and data analysis collected from university library websites. The results indicated that, of the 16 universities analyzed, 13 have digital libraries, but only 8 offer formal training. The main topics covered were training on how to use the CAPES portal and how to create a Lattes Curriculum. It was observed that there is no provision of formal training in universities with digital libraries in the North region, which may limit the full use of available informational resources. In conclusion, digital libraries are fundamental for supporting teaching, research, and outreach, but it is necessary to expand training opportunities and improve user training strategies.
