Methods: Descriptive study conducted, from September 2020 to April 2022, with pregnant women who sought the Basic Health Unit for prenatal care. For diagnosis, each sample was submitted to the screening test (ELISA) Immunoenzyme assay, and for confirmation western Blot and qPCR were used. Results: 450 pregnant women participated in the study, most of the participants were between 20 and 29 years old (269/450; 60%), heterosexuals with a stable partner (419/450; 93.11%), married (288/450; 64%), had 1 to 3 children (348/450; 77.33%), were attending and/or completed high school or higher education (338/450; 75%) and with a family income of up to one minimum wage (339/450; 75%). In this study, none of the patients presented positive serology for HTLV. Conclusions: The prevalence of HTLV in the population studied is below those found by several authors, this data cannot be interpreted as the absence of risk in pregnant women.
