Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1285The aim of this study was to estimate the larval density of crabs, as well as to identify which environmental factors explain the larval distribution of these organisms in the Amazon Continental Platform. The samplings were performed in six (6) locations, about 250 km, in October/2013 (lower flow) and May/2014 (higher flow), performing about km. Abiotic data from each site were recorded with a CTD profiler and the meroplankton samples were obtained with sub-surface horizontal trawls (0.5m from the surface) with a plankton net of 300 μm mesh, at the end totaling 12 samples (2 expeditions x6 locations). In the laboratory, the samples were sorted and the larvae were identified at the family categories. The density was expressed as number of larvae per m³ (larvae/m³) for the volume of water filtered by the net. 2,751Brachyura larvae were collected, belonging to 7 families and 11 species. Panopeus lacustrisDesbonne, 1867 was the most abundant species, followed by Uca sp. 2 and larvae of the Portunidae family. The mean density of Grapsidae and Panopeidae larval presented differences among October and May, indicating a reproduction pattern in the period of lower flow. Larvae of Pinnotheridae and Sesarmidae were found to be closer to the coast, indicating that they do not have great dispersion, unlike Ocypodidae and Portunidae that occur in the most distant places of the coast. Abundance of larvae of brachyuran crabs and their relationships with physicochemical factors constitute an important tool to characterize the zooplankton communities, especially in the area of PCA, where there is great diversity and richness of species that were no studied until now.Acesso AbertoLarvasCaranguejoAmazônia BrasileiraCNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::OCEANOGRAFIA::OCEANOGRAFIA BIOLOGICA::INTERACAO ENTRE OS ORGANISMOS MARINHOS E OS PARAMETROS AMBIENTAISExportação ou retenção?
