Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4185This work develops a descriptive qualitative research around a practice performed in a public school, located in the city of Castanhal-PA. The research subjects are students of the eighth grade of elementary school. Its general objective is to analyze possible contributions to learning about the study of plane geometry from problem solving. For this purpose it appropriates the following specific objectives: discuss the concepts of perimeter, area measures of length; identify evidence of understanding of concepts presented from the developed practice; Conduct feedback to identify learning evidence from students' statements. It was possible to realize the relevance of the study of geometry from problem solving to the development of the student's deductive reasoning, since it develops the investigative capacity, allows the student to feel able to do and speak using concepts of mathematics. Studies also point out that it is essential that teachers make reflections and adopt an exploratory posture during their classes, redirecting some activities, diversifying their teaching methodologies, detaching themselves from conventional classes.
