Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/855This work aims at the sedimentologic analysis of the continental slope of Amazon Fan, based on two samples (piston corer) collected at depth 1,057m (S253) and 1,021m (E200). The stratigraphy, granulometry, organic matter rate and calcium carbonate of the sedimentary column were analyzed. The results showed an abundance of muddy sediments, with silt granulometric fraction (80% for both cores) and lower values for clay (18% for S253 and 14% for E200) and sand (2% for S253 and 6% for E200). The organic matter content had an average value of 4,43% in the S253 and 6,52% in the E200. The calcium carbonate rates in the samples from the ANP S253 core varied from 6,6% to 27,9% with a mean of 11,74% and in the ANP E200 core the calcium carbonate contents in the samples ranged from 6,2% to 64,2% with an average of 20.03%. The analysis and integration of the data allowed to deduce that the sediments of the continental slope of Amazon Fan were submitted to relatively high hydrodynamics, of continental origin, having as influence the Amazon river, besides adjacent rivers. And according to the organic matter content in the S253 core (average value 4,43%), lower than the E200 core (average value of 6,52%) that is located further away from the coastline. This slight variation between the two cores generates a disagreement with the expected patterns according to other works in this region, where O.M. should be greater for regions with greater continental influence. This disagreement probably must have been generated by some sliding of sedimentary deposit of the platform in the slope, being common such phenomenon, since the region is characterized by episodes of landslides.Acesso AbertoSedimentologiaTalude ContinentalRio AmazonasCNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::OCEANOGRAFIASedimentação rasa do talude continental superior do AmazonasTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
