Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8514The study aims to analyze the learning of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in reading and writing in the Portuguese language. In this research, a qualitative approach was used with a bibliographical and documentary nature. The data were obtained through research on websites, scientific articles, the Planalto portal, among others, selected based on the theme of literacy and autism. In this study, we employed authors such as DSM-V (2014), Cunha (2017), Soares (2020), etc. For data analysis, the content analysis technique was applied based on Bardin's conception (2016). The results indicate that it is necessary for educators to have a qualified training in the area and invest in lifelong education. Another relevant point is the use of playful methodologies, such as visual resources, tactile stimuli, musicalization, among others, in the literacy of students with ASD. The studies highlight methods that support the literacy of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), among these methods, The following stand out: TEACCH - Treatment and education for children with autism and related communication disorders; ABA - Applied behavior analysis; PECS - Picture Exchange Communication System; and AEE - Specialized educational service. Furthermore, the phonics method is also widely used. The combination of these methods with Assistive Technologies (AT) can be an effective strategy to promote literacy for students with ASD.
