This is a qualitative, descriptive study with a literature review, which used an online biographical interview conducted via WhatsApp with Maria, an artisan living in the remaining quilombo community of Jacarequara. The analysis of the open-ended responses was performed using content analysis. The results indicate that clay crafts act as an articulating element of ancestry, tradition, belonging, and symbolic and economic survival, strengthening the cultural identity of the community.
