Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9484The digital transformation of industry has increased the demand for professionals capable of working with modeling, simulation, and intensive data processing, making High-Performance Computing (HPC) a strategic competence in engineering education. However, the high cost of infrastructure and the limited resources available in educational iinstitutions hinder access to clustered environments and the practical development of these skills. In this context, this Course Work presents the construction of a low-cost cluster using TV Boxes originating from Federal Revenue seizures in the fight against piracy, reused after a repurposing process. The development included the deployment of an embedded Linux system compatible with the ARM architecture, through the creation of a hybrid image based on Armbian with the Debian 11 distribution, boot adjustments, and the recovery of firmware and libraries from the original Android system via UART to ensure hardware support. Subsequently, the cluster architecture was implemented with a Head Node and Compute Nodes, featuring file sharing via NFS and workload and queue management through OpenPBS. To increase compatibility and portability of these AArch64-based systems, multiphysics simulation applications such as ElmerFEM and OpenFOAM were made available in containerized form via Apptainer, enabling distributed execution and reproducing a typical HPC workflow.
