The general objective of this study is to critically analyze the representation of librarians in cinema, going beyond the clichés commonly associated with the profession. The research is based on the analysis of three films: Columbus (2017), The Mummy (1999), and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009). With a qualitative and exploratory approach, the characteristics of the librarian characters, their relationship with knowledge, and the symbols associated with the profession are investigated. The results indicate that, although cinema still perpetuates certain stereotypes, there is a growing trend in the construction of more diverse and realistic representations, reflecting the evolution of the librarian's role in contemporary society. It is concluded that, although some stereotypes persist, there is a growing trend in the creation of more diverse and realistic librarian characters.
