Literacy, one of the most important phases of the educational process, has undergone changes, causing challenges in this process today. With this, this research seeks to understand the challenges in literacy of children in the early grades after the pandemic in a municipal school in the state of Pará. The theoretical foundation of this article follows the classic concepts of literacy in Soares (2020); Costa (2020); Freire (1988) and Ferreiro (1985). Also using a qualitative approach with an exploratory characteristic, with observations over a period of two months, in the literacy of two students from the 1st to the 5th year and with two literacy teachers. The results indicate that the literacy of children in the initial grades in the post-pandemic was affected, causing a slow learning of reading and writing of these children. It is concluded that there are obstacles in the educational paths of children, however, there is relevance in varied educational processes to obtain current educational development.
