Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8587This article aims to study João Pilatos Island, located in the insular region of Ananindeua, Pará, generating a geotourism proposal for the local community on the island, which is known for the importance of maintaining its biodiversity. However, changes in land use and climate have been observed. Therefore, the methodological procedures adopted in this research were divided into two stages: a bibliographic survey and fieldwork. This was conducted through conversations with the local community and environmental agency managers, and perceptual analysis using remote sensing and geoprocessing techniques. To characterize and analyze the changes in land use and vegetation cover, analyzing the edaphoclimatic characteristics of soil susceptibility and vulnerability to water erosion and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Satellite imagery from 2017 and 2025 was used. This was crucial for identifying areas with higher plant biomass, humidity levels, and urban sprawl, which were classified based on NDVI, as well as mapping the island's road and river routes.
