The primary objective was to investigate the performance of this material in protecting SAE 1020 steel surfaces, seeking a sustainable alternative for mineral waste recovery. The methodology involved preparing a mixture with a 2:1 resin-to-hardener ratio and using thinner as a solvent, comparing it to a commercial coating. Adhesion tests (NBR 11003) and accelerated corrosion tests were conducted using a didactic salt spray bench operated under NBR 17088 guidelines, with specimens exposed at 15° and 30° inclinations. The results showed that the experimental coating achieved maximum anchoring performance, classified as Y0. In the corrosion test, the developed material exhibited competitive rates (between 0.1016 and 0.1170 mm/year), although the analysis was limited by the 0.1 g resolution of the scale used, which led to instrumental saturation in commercial samples at lower inclinations. It is concluded that iron ore tailings are a promising constituent for industrial protection systems, combining technical feasibility with circular economy principles.
