This work aims to analyze the application of the wxMaxima software in the solution of second-order linear ODEs, highlighting its efficiency and accessibility. The methodology used consisted of a bibliographical research on differential equations, followed by a practical application of the wxMaxima software in the resolution of these equations. First, the theory of differential equations is discussed, addressing their classification, solution methods and fundamental concepts, such as linearity, homogeneity, initial value problems (IVPs) and boundary value problems (BVPs). Then, the commands and functionalities of wxMaxima are presented, demonstrating its application in the efficient resolution of differential equations. Finally, a practical example based on Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) illustrates the use of the software, evidencing its efficiency in the teaching and learning of applied mathematics.
