In rural areas, several factors make it difficult to provide this type of service, resulting in public health impacts with express consequences on the quality of life of the rural population, implying the relationship between sanitation actions and improved health. This research sought to analyze the typology of supply as well as to map the alternative solutions implemented for water in rural areas of code 8, according to the grouping of Brazilian rural households based on IBGE census sectors, with a final probabilistic sample of 79 municipalities of the State of Pará, subdivided according to the mesoregions. The study was based on data provided by competent bodies and by a news source via the internet. The mapping reiterates the characteristic Brazilian sanitation scenario, with rural areas marginalized and forgotten, with an average of 44% coverage with a water supply system by the general network, being highlighted in the mesoregions of Baixo Amazonas, Metropolitana de Belém, Marajó and Northeast Pará and the supply by well or spring on the property comprise 35% of households in the rural area of Pará, being predominant in the mesoregions of the Southeast and Southwest of Pará. In all of Pará's mesoregions, there was a lack of public policies aimed at rural populations concerning water supply, confirming the negligence in guaranteeing the Human Rights to water and health and the observance of constitutional rights to food security. The infrastructure installed by residents is, in many cases, temporary and precarious, subjecting them to the risk of diseases and other complications for public health in rural areas. The collective alternative solutions implemented by the public service or through projects are fundamentally important in spaces, being able to provide the population with quality water for consumption, such as SALTA-z, adopted in several rural communities as an alternative, being a methodology of easy replication and installation. It was found that there is a need to expand the implementation of alternative water treatment methodologies by the state that presents themselves with local characteristics and potential.
