With this, a study was made to draw a profile of teachers about EA (Environmental Education) to know how the subject is being worked in schools, since they are the ones responsible for the formal education in the municipality. The research was framed as quali-quantitative approach and it aimed to investigate "What are the perceptions of elementary school teachers about the environmental subject, more specifically regarding garbage?” And the general objective was find and analyze teachers' environmental perceptions, highlighting the problem of waste. The present work was carried out with sixteen teachers of the faculty of three schools of the municipal education network of the municipality of Breves-Pará. To carry out the research, a questionnaire containing sixteen open and closed questions related to the environment, waste and society was used. Topics such as: environmental conceptions and environmental awareness, in the view of teachers, the media and events that seek information on the environment, work on issues related to environmental education with students and the difficulties encountered and strategies adopted the issue of garbage in the municipality and in schools, among other related topics. The data were analysed using Discursive Textual Analysis. Is was concluded that the environmental perception of teachers is still linked to traditionalism about conceptions and care like environment, most of the teachers say working on environmental education subject with their students, but don’t offer ways how to work on the themes.
