Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10131This study presents the "Hospital das Irmãs" as a place of memory in the city of Abaetetuba and aims to discuss local history and promote strategies to streamline history teaching in the early years of elementary school. The research object is the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Medical Center, popularly known as "Hospital das Irmãs," located in the center of the city of Abaetetuba, Pará. The methodology used was bibliographic research, which is indispensable in studies of this nature, drawing on authors such as Le Goff (1990), Silva e Silva (2009), Nora (1984), among others, as well as oral history, through interviews about the object of study. Finally, we conclude that the "Hospital das Irmãs" is characterized as a "place of memory" in the city of Abaetetuba, emphasizing the work carried out by the religious order of the Xaverian Sisters, called to help the population during a period when medical services in the city were quite precarious and the neediest population, especially in the islands region and the branches of the municipality of Abaetetuba, had few resources.
