One of the native fruits of Brazil, widely distributed in the Amazon region and with great nutritional potential is buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.f.), precisely because it contains compounds that act in the modulation of the cellular antioxidant defense system, such as carotenoids, tocopherols, ascorbic acid, fatty acids and polyphenols. Considering the potential antioxidant effects of the compounds present in buriti, this work aims to evaluate the effect of food supplementation with lyophilized pulp of buriti on the antioxidant defense system of Danio rerio (Zebrafish). For this, 60 adult males of D. rerio were divided into 6 experimental groups, each with 10 replicates: the control group (CT) and 5 treatments with immersion exposure to different concentrations of lyophilized buriti pulp (5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg/L). The lyophilized pulp was offered to the fish as food every 24 hours for a period of 168 hours (7 consecutive days). Six biomarkers of oxidative stress: Glutathione S-Transferase (GST), Glutathione Reductase (GR) and Glutamate Cysteine Ligase (GCL) activity), reduced Glutathione (GSH) concentration, lipoperoxidation (LPO) and total antioxidant capacity (ACAP) were measured. The results showed that dietary supplementation decreased baseline levels of LPO and reduced GCL enzymatic activity at the highest concentrations tested. However, it did not change the other biomarkers analyzed, despite the fact that GR and GST showed a similar numerical increase trend. Therefore, dietary supplementation with buriti pulp has the potential to act synergistically with D. rerio's antioxidant defense system, protecting its cells from lipid damage caused by oxidative stress.Acesso AbertoBuritiMiritiMauritia flexuosaSuplementos nutricionaisPolpa de frutasLiofilizaçãoBiomarcadoresEstresse oxidativoCompostos bioativos das plantasDanio rerioPeixe zebraZebrafishPeptídeos bioativos de alimentosCompostos fitoquímicosCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::BIOQUIMICA::METABOLISMO E BIOENERGETICAModulação do sistema de defesa antioxidante do Danio rerio (teleostei: danionidae) frente a suplementação alimentar com a polpa liofilizada do buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
