The construction of the Tucuruí Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHE) brought about significant changes to the municipality's urban structure, primarily due to the intense migratory influx drawn to the area surrounding this major project. This study aims to analyze the expansion and dynamics of land use and occupation in the municipality of Tucuruí, Pará, during the years 2014, 2018, and 2024. To this end, the methodology involved evaluating changes in the Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI) and the compactness index of the municipal seat, performing a segmented classification to determine land-use categories, and analyzing demographic dynamics in relation to the hydroelectric plant's construction phases. The results indicated that the NDBI reached a maximum value of 0.32 and a minimum of -0.88; this aligns with the compactness index, which shifted from 0.58 in 2006 to 0.48 in 2024, signaling urban sprawl.
