Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8603The objective of this study is to discuss the provision of schooling offered to women in conditions of deprivation of liberty, held in female prison units located in the Amazon region of Pará, also highlighting the intersection between this provision—as a guarantee of a basic right—and the concept of Necropolitics, as discussed by Mbembe (2020). This is a qualitative study based on a historical-educational approach, in which data were collected through bibliographic research and document analysis, grounded in Foucault's analytics. The results indicate that, although education is a fundamental right tied to citizenship, it remains neglected for large segments of the Brazilian population, particularly for those deprived of liberty. The denial of this right can be seen as a strategy that leads to a "politics of death"—necropolitics—constituting a project of intensifying the precariousness of the lives of those deemed "infamous." Furthermore, we argue that this scenario is even more pronounced in the incarceration of women, who are treated as “precarious lives,” especially considering the rising trend of imprisoning these bodies.
