Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8971This study is situated within the field of Lexical Sciences and aims to investigate the existence of a specific terminological repertoire of artisanal fishing in the community of Cajueiro Campos de Baixo, in Bragança, Pará. It seeks to contribute to the preservation of local culture and the lexical knowledge associated with artisanal fishing practices. The theoretical framework is based on Lexical Sciences, drawing on authors such as Biderman (2001; 1987), Faulstich (1995), Pires and Isquerdo (2001), and Vilela (1997), as well as methodological references such as Gil (2002) and Prodanov (2013). The research adopts a qualitative approach, combining bibliographic review and fieldwork through semi-structured interviews with local artisanal fishers. Data analysis was carried out using the AntConc software. The findings confirm the existence of a specific terminological repertoire related to artisanal fishing, which, although threatened with disappearance, still preserves a rich and meaningful lexical knowledge. The cataloguing of 80 specialized terms supports the hypothesis of a distinctive lexicon and highlights the importance of safeguarding both local culture and traditional knowledge.
