Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2522The present research aims at approaching the pedagogical conception of the "Our Lady of the Angels" Educandário in the city of Abaetetuba, from 1953 to 1970. Created by the Capuchin Missionaries through the municipal and ecclesiastical powers, the institution initially returned its educational works to the female population, with primary education, which was the first course offered by the nuns to attend the abaetetubenses girls. In addition, the educational establishment had the support of the local community because it was a religious institution that had a differentiated education. Besides the religious aspect, the Educandário stood out as a private institution assistentialist and educational. Based on this, the guiding questions of the research are: What are the pedagogical functions assumed by the sisters in the functioning of the establishment? What methods were used to guide classroom practices? What disciplines? And, what are the evaluative practices of teaching-learning? In order to answer such questions, the main objective of the research is to analyze the guiding principles of the pedagogical proposal that guided the primary education of girls in the "Our Lady of the Angels" Educandário (1953-1970). This objective is distributed as follows: identify the pedagogical functions assumed by the sisters in the functioning of the establishment; to identify the methods that guided the educational practices in the classroom, to list the disciplines and to know the evaluative practices of teaching-learning. Based on these objectives, we sought answers in the documentation produced by the institution itself, so that it would elucidate the reasons that led to the origin of the college in the municipality of Abaetetuba and especially the educative conception of the nuns. The analysis of the period investigated was made based on the new Cultural history defended by Chartier, that allows to the investigator to analyze of different forms the unique facts and happenings of a determined society. The data found in the research reveal that the guiding principles of the institution aimed at an education based on religious principles of the Catholic Church, as well as the formation of girls to become women in the future presupposed of the social desires of the time, supported by the State and by the church. The sisters who administered the college, besides the functions of teachers, teachers, Superior, director and secretary, performed other functions that involved mission beyond the gates of the college. The "Our Lady of the Angels" curriculum includes subjects such as Portuguese, history, geography, arithmetic, science and religion, and the following educational practices: Moral and Civic Education, Games, Recreation and Music. The evaluation practices were carried out only by verifying notes of the tests carried out by the students for the promotion of the following series or course conclusion.
