These spaces play a fundamental role in promoting quality of life, which, in the urban environment, can be achieved through leisure, social interaction, sports activities, and other forms of engagement. The research is based on the analysis of contemporary square typologies as public spaces, addressing their evolution, uses, and modes of expression. As a case study and intervention area, the Pratinha neighborhood in Belém was selected due to its lack of high-quality public spaces. Finally, the study presents a proposal for the implementation of a public square in the neighborhood, developed through reference studies, territorial analyses, and a participatory process with local residents.
