Therefore, this article aims to discuss the importance of the toy library pointing out all its potentialities in early childhood education. Problematizing the relevance of this space for students and whether there is a need for the toy library to be inserted in all institutions focused on early childhood education. As a methodology, field research was carried out with a view to a toy library in a municipal school in Altamira – Pará and semi-structured interviews with pedagogues working in this space. The results point to a construction of pedagogical practices that are increasingly consistent with the potential of the toy library and a broad appreciation of playfulness.
