In Brazil, it is therefore crucial that healthcare professionals, both in primary and specialized care, possess adequate knowledge of AD to provide high-quality care and effective support to patients and their families. OBJECTIVE: To assess the knowledge of healthcare professionals in primary and specialized care in the municipality of Altamira, Pará, regarding Alzheimer's disease. METHODOLOGY: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study conducted with community health agents (CHAs), nursing technicians, nurses, and physicians. Data collection was carried out using the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale (ADKS) through an electronic form via Google Forms, administered in person. The study measured the level of knowledge about AD among healthcare professionals and compared it across different levels of healthcare. Additionally, it evaluated participants’ performance after an educational intervention on AD led by a neurologist. RESULTS: The study included 312 healthcare professionals, with an average ADKS score of 18.84 out of 30. Educational level significantly influenced performance, with individuals holding a higher education degree scoring an average of 20.34 points. Of the participants, 175 were from Primary Care (PC) and 137 from Secondary Care (SC), with no statistically significant difference between these levels. Physicians obtained the highest ADKS score (22.70 out of 30), with a significant difference. The lowest performance was observed in the "Risk Factors" domain, while the highest accuracy rate was found in "Treatment and Management." After the lecture by the neurologist, CHAs significantly improved their scores. CONCLUSION: The findings indicate a low level of knowledge about AD among the healthcare professionals surveyed. This study is significant due to the lack of information on the topic, particularly in the Northern Region of Brazil. The importance of continued education on AD is evident, as it contributes to better professional performance, with greater preparedness regarding the disease, including early diagnosis, identification of risk factors, and appropriate management of AD.Acesso AbertoDoença de alzheimerConhecimentoProfissionais da saúdeADKSAtenção primáriaAtenção especializadaDemênciaAlzheimer's diseaseKnowledgeHealthcare professionalsPrimary careSpecialized careDementiaCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::MEDICINA::CLINICA MEDICA::NEUROLOGIAConhecimento dos profissionais da saúde da atenção primária e da atenção especializada do município de Altamira/PA sobre a doença de alzheimerTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
