Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7252This work was produced through an extension project of the same name that was carried out in the Manancial Celeste community, Jejuteua river, in the rural area of Breves, Pará, with the students who are members of the Vagalume reading project. In order to analyze the students' conceptions of how they see their surroundings, a workshop was held in which they answered three guiding questions through drawings and collages: "where do I live?", "what can't be missing?" and "what shouldn't be there?". This study was based on the principle that there is a need to reflect on the relationship between humans and the natural environment, since human actions have resulted in drastic changes to the ecosystem and various climatic and health problems. In this sense, education plays a fundamental role in sustainable development. However, students and teachers need training to disseminate transformative and sustainable attitudes. During the analysis of the students' illustrations, we identified two predominant views, the anthropological view and the naturalistic view, which was the most common in the illustrations, indicating that the students who took part in the workshop had not yet developed an awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability.
