The study explores the clinical, psychosocial, and pathophysiological aspects of these conditions, highlighting their impact on the physical and emotional health of young people. Objectives: The objective of this study is to conduct a detailed review of the available literature on cardiac consequences in children and adolescents, specifically rheumatic valvular heart disease. We seek to analyze and describe the psychosocial and pathophysiological aspects of these conditions, aiming for a comprehensive understanding of the impact these pathologies can have on the lives of young people. Methodology: The methodology of this study was based on a narrative review of the literature. A systematic search was conducted in scientific databases, peer-reviewed articles, theses, and dissertations related to the topic. The methodological approach will include the selection of studies, the extraction of relevant data, and the organized presentation of information to provide a comprehensive understanding of the proposed topic. Results: The review showed that rheumatic heart valve disease has profound impacts on the lives of young people and adolescents affected by this condition, including debilitating symptoms, the need for recurrent medical interventions, and difficulty adhering to treatment. Psychosocially, it was noted that the disease can trigger anxiety, depression, and social isolation, in addition to affecting future planning, such as reproductive prospects in adolescents. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the management of these children and adolescents, including comprehensive psychological support, strategies to improve treatment adherence, public policies for rheumatic fever prevention, and improvements in basic living conditions, such as basic sanitation. Furthermore, recognizing the psychosocial impact of the disease is essential to ensure comprehensive care and improve the quality of life of these patients.
