Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1824This work was developed with the purpose of making a diagnosis geo-economic and environmental impact of mineral producing areas of use in construction in the metropolitan area of Belem, more specifically in the areas of Ananindeua, Belem, Benevides, Marituba, Santa Barbara do Pará and Santa Isabel do Para addition to these was added the municipality of Santo Antonio do Taua, being historically one of the largest suppliers of construction materials to the capital of Para. In the city of Ananindeua were registered two areas of extraction of minerals used in construction, popularly known as a bow down the Curvão do Coelho, Aura in the quarter, and another in the Industrial District. In the city of Marituba were found two areas known as Transterra Terraplenagem Ltd. and Bem Viver Empreendimentos Ltda. In the District of Mosqueiro were found three areas of extraction of minerals used in construction, popularly known as the Vovó Areal, that to facilitate the separation in this work, was placed as Areal Vovó 1 and Areal Vovó 2, they presented the same name and belong to the same owner, in addition to the Areal Pau Amarelo. In the municipality of Santo Antonio do Taua were located two areas of extraction known popularly as the Areal Paraíba and Areal Baiano. Among the materials produced are sand, land fill, grit and clay. The other municipalities, in actuality, only show evidence of mineral exploration. The area has its geological framework consisting of Pirabas Formation, Group Barriers, Sediment Post-Barreiras sediments and Recent. Technological tests were carried out with samples from deposits of sand and clay of the region in order to determine the quality of their products for use in construction. The amount of monthly production in these areas reaches a value of approximately 48,360 cubic meters of material, where there are 62 employees involved in the activity, generating a monthly production value of approximately R $ 965,496.00. Regarding the legal status of the destination could be verified, according to information obtained by the National Department of Mineral Production - DNPM that the total of eight areas, five of them are legalized by the said body and three areas operate clandestinely. We did not observe any kind of supervision by the competent bodies, relating to the collection of taxes on the exploitation of minerals extracted (CFEM, ICMS and ISS), which ends up generating a loss of revenue for municipalities producers. Estimated values of R $ 164,134.32 / month only ICMS no longer collected in the cities studied. The data from this work showed that the mining of minerals called social (sand, clay, landfill) focused in the cities, causing more damage to the environment than tax revenues for municipal coffers. As usual in this type of activity, most work is done by illegal organizations or companies in the family building industry who rent deposits to meet its civil works projects in the capital. This fact causes evasion of resources, low occupancy of labor and environmental problems in mining areas, jeopardizing the future use of depleted areas.
