Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9115The correct knowledge about of the ichthyology diversity of the South Western Atlantic region still appears as a challenge to the ichthyologists, especially of extensive regions and of difficult access as the region inserted in the Marajó Island. Some fish groups that have a low dispersal capacity, associated with estuarine-resident lifestyle, can often hide a cryptic diversity not yet inferred by traditional methods such as the Anableps anableps, known as tralhoto or four-eyed fish. In recent years, the utilizing of molecular tools has assisted in the resolution of sytematc issues, helping discover cryptic fauna, especially for groups of fish with preserved morphology, proving to be a useful tool in evolutionary and systematic studies. The present study aims to characterize genetically the lineage of A. anableps from the Tajapuru River, in the city of Breves, Marajó Island, through the mitochondrial gene, Cytochrome Oxidase, Subunit I. In addition to these individuals, available sequences were downloaded from the GenBank site and implemented in the database of the present study. The results indicate the probable presence of new lineages of A. anableps in the region of the Itapecuru River in Maranhão, as well as in the Tajapuru River in Breves. The Plesitocene events may be responsible for the isolation of these lineages that inhabits continental rivers in relation to the shore lineages found in previous studies, reinforced by the biological characteristic of the species as low dispersive capacity.Acesso AbertoTralhotoRio TajapuruLinhagens crípticasCitocromo Oxidase Subunidade IIlha de MarajóFour-eyed-FishTajapuru riverCryptic lineagesCytochrome Oxidase Subunit IMarajo islandCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::GENETICA::GENETICA ANIMALInferências moleculares em Anableps anableps (Linnaeus, 1758) provenientes da região de Breves, Ilha de Marajó Breves-PATrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
