This component fauna is a of essential estuarine fish recourse of the northern Brazil and gives/presents high socioeconomic importance to city of Quatipuru, northeastern Para. The quatipuruense community has shown strong relationship of subordination to this organism and since 2004 has been strengthened with higher rates of production of this fish in northern Brazil. In view of what this specie represents to the livelihood of the residents of the region, this study aims to describe the population density of commercial size of crab from data obtained in six months of collect, in two areas adjacent to the Bay of Quatipuru that, currently, are at repose. In these stations, one on the right of Rio Quatipuru, called Tracuateua (Area 01) and the other on the left, called Quatipuru (Area 02), set up the bimonthly study of period September 2006 to July 2007 and obtained data biometric and analyzed with the finality of produce the maximum information possible about the population density of mangrove crab of both areas. The Quatipuru area, though has accessibility by land and along the left margin of the River Quatipuru for smaller ship (canoe to paddle), only showed lower rates than 6 cm in width of carapace (biometric) during May and July 2007 in relation to the area 01, Tracuateua.
