This process can be stimulated by exogenous factors, such as phytoestrogens present in soy-based foods. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the relationship between soy consumption and PPC in boys treated at the Endocrinology clinic in a reference hospital in the Amazon. A retrospective, case-control study was carried out. A total of 56 boys were divided into two groups: 15 patients diagnosed with CPP made up the case group and 41 patients without a diagnosis of CPP (with normal onset of puberty) formed the control group. During the analysis, an association was obtained between bone age (BA) (p = 0.03) and pubarche (p < 0.001) with CPP. Regarding the characteristics of soy intake, no associations were found between the two groups, although the comparison of soy consumption between the two groups was significant. The use of soy-based formula (p = 0.01) and the daily amount of soy intake (p = 0.04) were found to be important risk factors for CPP. Finally, when all groups were evaluated, a correlation was obtained between advanced BA and the age at which soybean consumption began (r = - 0.927, p < 0.001). Therefore, we conclude that soy use is associated with CPP in boys. An earlier onset of consumption and quantity of daily intake may possibly play a role in the development of the disease. Furthermore, it was observed that boys with advanced bone age started consuming soy earlier, making us reflect on the use of BA as a predictor of CPP.Acesso AbertoPuberdade precoceFitoestrógenosSojaPrecocious pubertyPhytoestrogensSoyCNPQ::CIENCIAS MEDICA::MEDICINAAssociação entre consumo de soja e puberdade precoce central em meninos: um estudo de caso-controleTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
