Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2269This study took place at Itarana Island, located at the northwestern portion of the São João de Pirabas County, northeast of Pará state. Several geomorphological units were recognized at the island, Coastal Highlands, Coastal Plain, Muddy Plain, Terrace Systems, Chenier, Bays, Paleodunes, Interdunes, Lakes, Coastal Dunes, Beaches, Backshore, Intertidal and Sandy Bars, as the relation with the lithotypes found at the island. There were also been described the geological units that compose the island relief and its outcropping lithotypes. At this point it is noteworthy to mention the Pilões arenite and its distinguishing features, as so the holocenic sediments, which are rich in neotectonic structures. Another important point addressed in this study is the structural framework of this island, that even with a simply and superficial characterization, shows itself very rich. The social and environmental aspects of the region were also observed, as their possible relation with the geological aspects. In the end a multi temporal analysis was made, based in satellite imagery data of the last 40 years, in an interval that covering since the 1970 decade until the year 2010.
