The problem in the acquisition of reading and writing in the early years is a challenge to be overcome by teachers, always concerned with working teaching methodologies, which facilitate the level of appropriation of students. Its general objective is to analyze the factors by which students find difficulties in the process of reading and writing acquisition in the early and specific years describe the factors that contribute to the emergence of difficulties in the process of reading and writing acquisition and identify teaching practices for better contribute to this acquisition process. The research is of a qualitative approach, with bibliographic nature (SEVERINO, 2013), supported by the theoretical contributions of Smolka (1989), Cafieiro (2005), Souza (2013) in the conceptual plane of reading and writing; about the factors that contribute to the difficulties in student acquisition, Brazil (2012), Franchi (2012), Silva (2004) and Salmeron (2013). As a result, the study indicates that there are many factors that cause difficulties in the process of acquisition of reading and writing of students in the early years, but that they are more due to causes of social and family nature.
