We know that teachers somehow have the role of informing and motivating their students to practice healthy eating. This is a cross-sectional study of a qualitative approach, in the case study modality. The present study aimed to investigate in which terms the themes of food and nutrition education are developed in the elementary schools in the municipality of Breves. To achieve the objectives, we elected as a data collection instrument a questionnaire that was applied to teachers of Natural Sciences of 6 (six) elementary schools in the municipality of Breves. Of the respondents, 5 (five) teachers were from the urban area and 2 (two) teachers were from the rural area, totaling 7 teachers interviewed. The data obtained were analyzed by the interpretative analysis method. Our research has shown that teachers persist with traditional methodologies to teach the subject in the classroom. Lack of training or even the absence of partnerships with other actors directly inserted in food and nutrition education, form gaps that make it difficult to insert variation.
