Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8826This research emerges from an analysis aimed at understanding the connection between the recurrence of Centro das Flores in newspapers and the development of a new sociability emerging from the development of Belém during its Belle Époque, based on the disciplining and moralisation of its citizens. The narratives constructed through the news related to this hostel open up a path of interpretation for the conflicts that occurred in the city, which are related to the modernisation of lifestyle based on the elite's desire to standardise the city's inhabitants within what was understood as civilised. Newspapers are the main focus of this analysis, which, together with works that reflect on modernity, hierarchy, the construction of journalistic discourse, and disciplining, seeks to offer a new perspective on the society that was forming during this unique period in the history of Pará. The results of this research point to the use of the Centros das Flores in newspapers as an example of what was repudiated by this new society, a series of subjects and actions that should be rejected, and which therefore generated these recurring references with the aim of defaming their image and that of their regulars.Acesso AbertoJornaisDisciplinarizaçãoMoralidadeConflitoBelle ÉpoqueNewspapersDiscipliningMoralityConflictCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::HISTORIA“O célebre covil de desordeiros”: a hospedaria Centro das Flores, moralidade e conflito em Belém na Belle Époque (1898-1900)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
