Orientadora: Maria de Nazaré Alves Lima. 2019. 45 f. Trabalho de Curso (Bacharelado em Enfermagem) - Faculdade de Enfermagem, Instituto de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Pará, Belém, 2019. Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/2981The purpose of this work is to know the perception and the expectations of the residents of the remaining quilombos community of Umarizal in Baião / PA, regarding the inclusion of some of their residents in the undergraduate courses of the Federal University of Pará State. The study was characterized as transversal, obtaining a sample of 10 people, being 20% men and 80% women, in the age range between 18-48 years. The questionnaire on social quotas was used, covering general characteristics of the participants and questions related to the understanding of the system of racial quotas for black quilombolas, benefits and the importance the PSE brought to quilombola families, as well as their expectations regarding the future of the community and perspectives of return and performance of the professionals in the quilombo. It was identified that 100% of the interviewees understand that the quota system gives access to public universities with reservation of vacancies for blacks and quilombolas, in order to reduce the unequal gap between blacks and whites in the history of society. For 60% of the research participants, among the benefits achieved, receiving aid scholarships is a prime incentive because the student can not afford to spend his or her own expenses. It was verified that all the interviewees (100%) expect future professionals to return to their place of origin bringing their knowledge and projects, acting in an effective way and helping in the growth and development of the quilombola community. So the quotas and the PSS are a controversial subject, which generates warm discussions, not being unanimous the favorable positions, it is notorious that this affirmative action represents a considerable victory for the black race. The study shows that for residents of the Umarizal community, remnants of a quilombo, there is hope for improvement in life, dignity and prosperity, and these anxieties are closely linked to education and the special selective process is the light they need to make the right.
