There aren’t many works about the epidemiology aspects of such poisoning in Pará, Amazônia. Objectives: Study the epidemiologic aspects of a historical series about intoxication by household products in Pará State. Methods: This is an observational, transversal and descriptive study with and to carry out it used 420 calls made to CIT-Belém about children poisoning with household products from 1998 to 2008. Results: From all the cases reported to CIT-Belém on the period, 420 (9,73%) were about intoxication in children under 14 years old and caused by household cleaning products. The study show that 234(56%) male children and 186 (44%) female became victims, children above one and under five and was predominant with 322 victims (76%); the calls received are mainly from medical services (82%) and only 10% were made from the house of the victim; the most frequent exposure route was oral (91%); the toxic agent with more cases associated were bleachs with 164 (39%), followed by corrosives with 92 (22%); about 62% of the patients developed some symptom; the followed up showed that one hundred patients (23%) needed hospital care, four patients died (1%) and only one was permanently injured (0,25%) because the victim developed esophagus estenosis; about the circumstances, five cases were intentional poisoning or suicide attempt (1,2%), and the rest were non-intentional.
