Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is characterized as a hereditary disease, marked by the fragility of mechanical stimuli in the epithelial tissue through the rupture of the intracellular ligaments of the epithelial tissue. This results in hemorrhagic blisters caused by minimal stress to the tissue or spontaneously. Epidermolysis bullosa affects more than 500,000 people worldwide. Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a disease that affects and alters the healing pattern of the skin, thus manifesting problems that affect the patient's life. In addition to the skin, there may also be manifestations in the esophagus, nails, hair, loss of limbs and oral cavity. Epidermolysis bullosa is classified into four types according to the skin cleavage pattern: simple epidermolysis bullosa, dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, junctional epidermolysis bullosa and kindler epidermolysis bullosa. Treatment for epidermolysis bullosa presents a challenge to dentists due to the friable nature of the tissue. In this sense, an integrative review of the literature was carried out to analyze the most common types of complications regarding epidermolysis bullosa in children, the level of professional knowledge about the disease and the possible types of treatment at the oral cavity level. For this, the research was conducted using the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Wiley, and Lilacs databases. Using the MESH terms Child, Children, Epydermolisis Bullosa, Acantholysis Bullosa, Dentistry and Oral Medicine, combined with Boolean operators AND and OR. Among 637 articles, 17 articles were obtained for complete reading of the texts, of which 3 articles were eliminated, as they were not compatible with the methodological purpose of this work.. According to the present study, it was possible to understand that there are clinical aspects that are repeated, regardless of the type of epidermolysis bullosa, such as microstomia, ankyloglossia, blisters and caries. In this sense, treatments for children are mainly focused on prevention, due to the difficulty in managing the patient according to clinical standards. However, when necessary, it is possible to safely carry out more specialized treatments with the help of a multidisciplinary team.en
Utilizando os termos MESH Child, Children, Epydermolisis Bullosa, Acantholysis Bullosa, Dentistry e Oral Medicine, combinados com operadores booleanos AND e OR.
